Did you know that the new washing machine you are currently considering may make you eligible for a rebate? Residents of Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District 142 (FBMUD 142) are eligible to participate in a rebate program through the North Fort Bend Water Authority’s (NFBWA) Larry’s Toolbox program.

Rebates are available for FBMUD 142 residents with water-efficient toilets, showerheads, faucets, aerators, clothes washers, dishwashers, water heaters, rain sensor sprinklers, sprinkler bodies and nozzles and weather-board irrigation controllers.

To apply to obtain a rebate of up to $300, residents must complete and submit a rebate form that includes a dated receipt less than 90 days old; a photograph of the product’s box showing that it contains a WaterSense or ENERGYSTAR logo; a copy of any installation receipts (if applicable) and a photograph of the installed equipment.

The rebate program is one of several NFBWA initiatives FBMUD 142 participates in to conserve water. The NFBWA offers points for each initiative the District enrolls in. Those points go toward qualifying for a 10-cent per 1,000 gallons discount on the District’s surface water conversion surcharges. If enough residents participate in the appliance rebate program, the MUD will receive three points toward obtaining the surcharge discount.
